LGMS SHARK Pre-Academies offer:
Success through Heightened Academics, Research and Knowledge
Students in Accelerated Studies are committed to pursuing excellence in all coursework. Successful completion can result in high school credits in Algebra 1 Honors, Geometry Honors, Earth/Space Science Honors, and Spanish 1 Honors.
In the Ag Science Academy, students will learn about animal science, plant science, food science, and agricultural mechanics. Students will also have the opportunity to join FFA and gain valuable leadership skills.
AVID’s mission is close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
Students will receive a solid foundation in technology skills that will prepare them for high school level business and technology classes. Students learn keyboarding, basic computer concepts, the Microsoft Office suite, and much more.
Students have the opportunity to use commercial food production equipment, develop menus and recipes, prepare a variety of foods and explore career paths in food production, management and service. Students are encouraged to join FCCLA where they can participate in community and competitive events while developing leadership skills.
The LGMS Fine Arts Academy works to enhance student learning and achievement through music and visual arts programs.
The Health Academy is designed to introduce, motivate, and support a career in Health. The academy will allow students to explore the career through the studies of Health Science, Nutrition, Medical Skills, and Health Occupations.
The LGMS production team is responsible for producing the daily news program. Students write scripts, create graphics, operate cameras, and edit stories and segments. Students use Apple computers and learn programs such as Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Garage Band.
Biotech is a hands-on program that teaches students lab techniques and procedures. This program focuses on integration of biotechnological concepts and applied laboratory investigations.
