LGMS SHARK Pre-Academies offer:

Success through Heightened Academics, Research and Knowledge

Agricultural Science

In the Ag Science Academy, students will learn about plant, animal, and soil science, natural resources, and conservation. They will have the opportunity to participate in the Future Farmers of America (FFA), grow vegetables, and participate in pork production.

Business

This academy provides students with the computer, digital, and information technology skills necessary for success in their academic and occupational goals.  Content includes web development, multimedia, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet communications, cybersecurity, and computer programming.  Instruction and learning activities are provided in a lab setting.

Culinary Arts

This academy covers various careers in Culinary, Hospitality and Tourism. Course content includes the development of leadership skills, communication skills, and employability skills as well as resource management, the importance of health and safety in the culinary environment, and use of technology in culinary careers.

Pre-Medical

The Pre-Medical Academy’s purpose is to assist students in making informed decisions regarding their future academic and occupational goals and to provide information regarding careers in the health field.  Course content includes exploratory activities relating to the health field as well as an introduction to medical ethics, consumerism, and characteristics of health care workers, community health agencies and basic computer literacy.

Video Production

Beginning with a broad overview of the Arts, A/V Technology and Communication career cluster, students are introduced to the terminology, careers, history, required skills, and technologies associated with each pathway to these careers.  The LGMS production team is responsible for producing the daily news program.  Students write scripts, create graphics, operate cameras, and edit stories and segments.  Students use Apple computers and learn software programs involved in video production and editing.
